Chamber of Commerce to Host Downtown Discussion
The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce has heard many concerns about and affection for downtown and is hosting 3 meetings to channel these comments into a constructive conversation about the future of downtown. The conversations will be held: Meeting One: April 24, 7:30-9 a.m.; Meeting Two: May 29, 7:30-9 a.m., and Meeting Three: June 19, 7:30-9 a.m. All meeting will be held at the Chamber’s training center on the ground floor of Chamber of Commerce Center, 401 N. Robert Street.
There will be a limited number of seats available for these meetings so please RSVP by email to george@saintpaulchamber.com.
Grand Opening of Details Style Lab
On April 12 there will be a new salon, spa, and men’s clothing boutique located at 346 St. Peter Street. The grand opening will include a reception and silent auction from 3-6 p.m. at Details Salon and an evening fashion show beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Lowry Theatre. All proceeds will benefit the Autism Society of Minnesota.

Lynne Rossetto-Kasper at the Fitzgerald Theater
MPR presents the release of The Splendid Table's new book "How to Eat Supper" at The Fitzgerald Theater Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Lynne Rossetto-Kasper, host of American Public Media's "The Splendid Table" radio show, celebrates the publication of "How to Eat Supper," co-written by Rossetto-Kasper and Sally Swift of the Splendid Table team. A favorite of foodies everywhere, Kasper will nourish the mind as well as the stomach — there will be food and drink.
Doodlebops LIVE!
Get ready to rock along with the Doodlebops as they get on the bus to tour North America with a live concert. This candy-colored trio is sure to deliver an unforgettable performance that will be a treat for the whole family! They will perform Friday at the Xcel Energy Center.
Upcoming Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra Performances
Dawn Upshaw brings together five of the great composers of the 20th century Friday and Saturday at the Ordway in a program inspired by cabaret, folksong, jazz and poetry. Schoenberg's Cabaret Songs are bound to be a highlight: one of his early jobs was playing piano in a cabaret and these pieces have plenty of attitude. They suit Upshaw superbly, as do Berio's touching arrangements of folksongs, each one a little masterpiece.
Gamelan Music and Dance at Landmark Center
The Minnesota-based Indonesian music and dance ensemble, will perform its 12th annual spring music and dance celebration Saturday at 8 p.m. in the F. K. Weyerhaeuser Auditorium. The music of the Sumunar Gamelan Ensemble is rhythmic, melodic, dreamy and hypnotic.
Upcoming Swarm Matches
The Awarm host the New York Titans Saturday at the Xcel Energy Center. They will play the Philadelphia Wings April 12.
RollerGirls Season Championship
On April 12, at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium, two bouts will take place: the Atomic Bombshells vs. the Garda Belts and the Dagger Dolls vs. the Rockits. There are numerous free shuttles to the event. Visit the above link for further information.
The Minnesota Opera at the Ordway Center
Be careful what you wish for. This is The Little Mermaid without the Disney ending. Rusalka, a water nymph, bargains with the sea witch to become human so she can win the love of the Prince. But the deal is deadly. Antonín Dvorák who created the New World Symphony gave this poignant fairy tale his most lyrical music, creating beautiful sound-worlds for the sea spirits and the mortals. Rusalka features the return of Minnesota native Kelly Kaduce in the title role, with Brandon Jovanovich returning as the Prince. The performance will run from April 12 to 20.
The American Craft Show at the RiverCentre
The American Craft Council, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the understanding and appreciation of contemporary American craft, invites art and design enthusiasts to its annual American Craft Show April 18-20.
Free IT Workshop: Increasing Customer Service through Effective Project Management
The College of St. Scholastica will host Dr. Kenneth Hasledalen who will present and interactive workshop focusing on customer service technology and the use of project management to enhance customer service. The event will be held from 6-8:30 p.m. on May 20 at downtown campus located at 340 Cedar Ave on the Second Floor.
