SPACC :: Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce :: Committees

As a member of the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, there are many opportunities to help lead efforts to set policy, Chamber direction, and build relationships. One of the best ways to do so is through committee and task force participation. Below is a brief description of each committee and task force.

Administrative

• Board of Directors (elected)
The Board is the governing body of your Chamber. Positions are filled based on recommendations and nominations of Chamber members.
Meets: monthly

• Executive Committee (appointed)
This committee is a sub-set of Board of Directors that considers Chamber policy issues when time is of the essence. Positions are filled based on recommendations and nominations of Chamber members.
Meets: monthly

• Finance Committee (appointed)
This committee reviews and monitors financial and budgetary activities of your Chamber. Activities include reviewing the budget and ongoing analysis of the Chamber’s financial performance.
Meets: Quarterly

• Nominating Committee (appointed)
This committee provides recommendations for new board members and nominates a slate of Chamber officers (Chair, Chair-elect, Treasurer and Secretary).

• Strategic Plan Task Force (appointed)
This task force reviews and updates your Chamber’s Strategic Plan. 
Meets: as needed July-December

• Personnel Committee (appointed)
This committee reviews organizational employee structure, recognition awards and recommendations relating to the employee benefits programs.

Education and Foundation

• Charitable Foundation Board of Directors (elected)
The mission of the Charitable Foundation is to grow strong leaders and prepare tomorrow’s employees. The Foundation is the preferred charitable vehicle for donors who desire to advance the social and economic vitality of the Saint Paul/East Metro area through workforce development.

• Leadership Saint Paul Curriculum Committee
This committee directs the activities associated with your Chamber’s premiere development program, Leadership Saint Paul (LSP). Must be a LSP alumni.
Meets: monthly

• Leadership and Education Committee
This committee is responsible for understanding the challenges and assuring that the leadership programs are meeting the needs and trends of our members. Recommends best practice and quality assurance for the Career Investment Education Initiatives including the scholarship and e-mentoring programs.
Meets: quarterly

• Scholarship Committee
This committee is comprised of business and school district personal to help select the career investment scholarship winners in March/April of each year and the Leadership Saint Paul scholarships in October.
Meets: monthly

Events 

• Annual Meeting Task Force (appointed)
This task force strives to recognize Chamber, community leaders and volunteers responsible for the success of your Chambers during the past year. It also introduces those individuals assuming leadership roles in your Chamber for the upcoming year.
Meets: as needed

• Chamber Honors Task Force
This task force plans and organizes Chamber Honors, the Chamber's annual awards gala, and coordinates the awards process associated with it.
Meets: as needed

• Young Professionals Committee
This committee creates a platform for young professionals to build relationships, develop professionally, become politically and philanthropically active, and contribute to the economic development and quality of life in the Saint Paul/East Metro area.
Meets: monthly

• Golf Task Force
This task force plans and executes the annual Chamber Golf Tournament for the purpose of developing social and business contacts for members.

Membership

• Ambassador Committee
Our Ambassador Committee is a committed and engaged group of Chamber members dedicated to the attraction and retention of members through participation in grand openings, ribbon cuttings, personal visits, monthly phone calls and networking events.
Meets: monthly

Public Affairs

•Public Affairs Commitee
The Public Affairs Commitee addresses general public policy issues that affect business in the Saint Paul/East Metro area. This appointed committee meets quarterly and helps the Chamber set its legislative agenda.
Meets: quarterly

• Transportation Committee
This committee addresses transportation policy issues that affect business in the Saint Paul/East Metro region.
Meets: monthly

• Political Action Committee – (appointed)
This committee endorses and provides contributions to candidates running for elected office with a pro-business agenda.
Meets: monthly
