Relive Your Glory Days
Do you ever sit at your desk reminiscing about the time you threw the game winning touchdown pass your senior year? Or how if coach would have just put you in during the 4th quarter your team would have made it to state? Or maybe your glory days have yet to come and you dream of becoming a regional racquetball champion. Well here at the Chamber we love reliving our glory days and incorporate it into our wellness program every day. The local YMCA is only a 3 minute walk from our downtown offices and makes for a great place to grab a quick workout at lunch. By encouraging our employees to be active at lunch, our workers are given one more chance at that game-winning shot every week at noon basketball.
Weight Watchers- Chamber Style
One way we are able to promote healthy lifestyles is by providing light food options for our guests. If you are reading this post, you are probably very familiar with SPACC, which means you’ve probably been to at least one of our over 125 events we host every year. In order to host such amazing events, we have to keep great food options available to our attendees. By switching out the doughnuts for fresh fruit and yogurt, people who come to our breakfast meetings are able to get a boost that will sustain them throughout the long work day. Additionally, by providing calorie counts at our lunch meetings we give our guests the power to make the healthy choice to keep them feeling sharp. And, well let’s be honest we’re not getting rid of the beer at our Young Professional events, we make sure that there is always water available for those who want to stay hydrated.
Keep it Chill
Wellness in the office doesn’t have to be some grand shake-up; it can be small changes like making sure employees have a place to store their lunch. By providing refrigerators for the office, we empower employees to bring their own healthy options to eat. Bringing a lunch allows for employees to stock up on healthy snacks, saving them the choice of fast food, and saving them money- which in turn increases their mental wellness (stress relief!).
These are just a few ways we here at SPACC encourage healthy, active work lives in our employees. A healthy employee equals a happy employee, which means more productivity in the long run. Worksite wellness is a win-win and can be accomplished through a few small changes in office culture. In 2015, SPACC will be focusing on improving worksite wellness in companies throughout the East Metro, so stay tuned for updates on how you too can be named “Best Place to Work in the Entire World.” (Thanks again Ban Ki!)
