Throughout the history of the nation, small businesses have been the primary source of job growth. From mom and pop grocery stores in small towns to tech start-ups to construction companies, small businesses spur the economy and drive commerce throughout the U.S.
Even some of the biggest businesses in the country – Apple, Google, GM, Wal-Mart – started as small businesses. Entrepreneurs take risks and give rise to great opportunities.
Since the start of 2015, Deluxe Corporation has been celebrating small businesses across the U.S. Deluxe started as a small business in St. Paul in 1915, when W.R. Hotchkiss took a $300 loan and began selling his invention – the checkbook – to banks and small businesses in Minnesota. Now, 100 years later, Deluxe is a partner to the financial services industry and a growth engine for small businesses across the country.
To celebrate the company’s anniversary, we have turned the spotlight away from Deluxe and onto small businesses through the Small Business Revolution. At www.smallbusinessrevolution.org, Deluxe is showcasing the stories of 100 unique and compelling small businesses from across the country in 12 mini-documentaries and 88 photo essays. Local businesses like Tiny Diner, Max Bats, St. Croix Chocolates and Urban Junket are part of this unique project.
Part of this effort includes a full-length, 22-minute documentary with includes expert commentary from the likes of Robert Herjavec, star of Shark Tank; Maria Contreras-Sweet, Administrator of the Small Business Administration and more. On Sept. 30, Deluxe will host a premiere Gala at Aria in Minneapolis to debut the documentary. The evening will be filled with local business and community leaders, along with Small Business Revolution spokesperson Robert Herjavec from Shark Tank in attendance.
Because small businesses are the lifeblood of the U.S. economy, we want to invite Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce members to be part of our evening. The premiere event is open to a small number of local officials and small business leaders, and now is the chance for SPACC members to join us.
Between now and Friday, Sept. 11, the first 15 chamber members who Tweet the name of their favorite small business to @smbizrevolution using the hashtag #SPACC will receive an invite for you and a guest to attend this exclusive premiere party. Individuals who are first to send out the Tweet will receive a direct message back from the Small Business Revolution with a link to the RSVP site.
Deluxe is excited to celebrate our love of small businesses and are proud to continue our sponsorship and partnership with the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce.
