Dakota County
Dakota County was named
after the Dakota people, who made up a large number of
affiliate American Indian groups that lived in
Minnesota and adjoining states. The American Indian
meaning for Dakota is “alliance” or “league.” Dakota
County is made up of cities mostly South of the
