Attend the Chamber's August Membership Meeting presented by Wells Fargo for the unique opportunity to hear a keynote address from the President of the University of Minnesota, Eric Kaler. We'll also recognize new members and announce our monthly Celebrate Business Success Award recipient.

About our Keynote Speaker:

KalerPresident Kaler is just the second alumnus to become president at the University of Minnesota. When he attended the university, he received his Ph.D. from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science in 1982.

After earning his Ph.D., Kaler, became one of the nation’s primary experts on “complex fluids,” which are used in many applications, such as drug delivery, the biotech industry, food processing, and the manufacturing of coatings and paints. In addition, he served as an assistant professor and an associate professor of chemical engineering at the University of Washington from 1982 to 1989.

From the University of Washington Kaler became a member of the faculty at the University of Delaware from 1989-2007. At the University of Delaware he served as the chair of the Chemical Engineering Department from 1996 to 2000 and then dean of the College of Engineering from 2000 to 2007. From 2007 to 2011 Kaler acted as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs at Stony Brook University in New York. During this time he was also Stony Brook's vice president for Brookhaven National Laboratory affairs.

In July 2011, Eric Kaler took over the President role at the University of Minnesota, becoming the 16th president of the university. He has been given many recognitions and awards for his research, including an election to the National Academy of Engineering in 2010.

Cash refunds will be made for cancelled registrations if they are made three days in advance. Otherwise, substitutions and credits are welcome. A credit for a cancelled registration will be allowed provided the cancelation request is received by the event registrar at least one full business day prior to the start of the event.
