This banquet honors Walter and Lydia Deubener, the
proprietors of a grocery store, and the innovators of the
first shopping bag with handles. The Saint Paul Area
Chamber of Commerce will award five organizations with the
Deubener Award during the Small Business Award of Excellence
Luncheon. Te recipients excel in the areas of: growth,
excellence, risk, diversity and innovation. They are
outstanding representatives of the spirit of the entrepreneur
and the power of small business.The power of small business is felt in our community, our
state and our nation. We rely on entrepreneurs to
continue to bring their ideas, products and services into the
marketplace. With more than 25,000 small businesses in
Dakota, Washington and Ramsey counties, their impact has
contributed to our economic development. We invite you to be a
part of the recognition and celebration of the power of small
business.
GENERAL CRITERIA:
- Small organizations are defined by the Saint Paul Area Chamber
of Commerce as having 1-250 full- time equivalency employees
- Is a Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce member or does
business in the Saint Paul (East Metro) area - including
Dakota, Ramsey and Washington counties.
- Has been in operation for a minimum of three years.
- Exhibits growth, excellence, risk, diversity and
innovation.
- Is involved in community activities.
- Promotes and supports diversity in the work environment.
- Adheres to ethical business practices.
- Falls within at least one of the five categories.
