What is the Future Today Internship Program?
The Future Today Internship Program is a cohort internship program of recently graduated college students who are having trouble finding employment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Graduates will gain meaningful work experience as well as engage in professional development opportunities.
What are the program dates and hours?
The Future Today Internship program will run for 8 weeks from October 26, 2020 - December 18, 2020, -between 20 to 40 hours/week. Work hours include two hours of professional development delivered by the Future Today program directors.
When are applications due?
Applications are due Sunday, October 18, 2020. Applications will be accepted until positions are filled. Interns must reside in Ramsey County. BIPOC graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
Who are the Future Today Program sponsors?
The Future Today Internship Program is a collaboration between Ramsey County Workforce Solutions, The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce and University Enterprise Laboratories (UEL).
How much will interns get paid?
Interns will be paid $22/hour. The program and salaries are funded by Workforce Solutions, a department of Ramsey County, via CARES funding. All intern salaries as well as insurance will be paid through one of the sponsors, Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, or the University Enterprise Laboratories.
Do I get to select where I will work?
No. Program directors will arrange matches for internships based on employer needs and recent graduates’ desires and background as provided in the application. All majors and backgrounds are eligible.
Will I be able to work on-site?
Maybe. Interns may work on-site if the organization is open and practicing safe COVID prevention measures. Most of the internships, however, will be conducted online.
What is the formal professional development element?
In addition to skills learned in the workplace, formal professional development will be provided by the Future Today program directors. Interns will be a part of a cohort, participate in leadership and skills workshops and attend professional speaker webinars. Interns will be paid for professional development attendance as a part of their workday.
