Springboard for the Arts is an economic and community development organization run by and for artists, based in St. Paul and Fergus Falls. Springboard serves over 20,000 artists each year in Minnesota and their programs have been replicated in over 80 cities across the country. The core of Springboard's mission is connecting artists with the resources they need to make a living and a life. Our artist resources include business skills training, healthcare and legal resources, fiscal sponsorship, physical and digital resource centers, and an active schedule of panels, workshops, and artist consultations. Springboard’s projects have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and The Guardian, and Springboard was recently awarded the 2018 Bush Prize for Community Innovation. Last year, Springboard purchased a new site on University Ave called "SpringBOX"; a vacant used car dealership and lot, Springboard is working to redevelop this site into a community asset that will be home to their offices, a community event space, market, public lawn and rooftop. The project was launched with a $500,000 commitment to the capital fund from the St. Paul, F.R. Bigelow and Mardag Foundations and, to date, Springboard has secured $3 million towards the project and plans to break ground on the renovation in July 2019.
